Can my dog get better without surgery? +

For a lot of dogs, yes. For some, no. Conservative care (rest, weight control, controlled walks and support) tends to suit smaller dogs, older dogs and partial tears best. Large, young, very active dogs with a complete tear often do better with surgery, and most surgeons will tell you that straight. Decide with your vet. The brace is the support part of whichever plan you pick.

Does one brace really cover both back legs? +

Yes. It's one harness with two hinged knee wraps, so you're not buying a second brace later. The sore knee gets support, and so does the one that's been carrying the extra weight.

How do I pick the right size? +

Start with your dog's weight: S 15–35 lb, M 30–55 lb, L 50–80 lb, XL 75–110 lb, XXL 100+ lb. Then measure around the middle of the back thigh with your dog standing. If you land between two sizes, or your dog has short legs (Corgi, Dachshund, Basset), message us your measurements before ordering and we'll help.

Will it slide down like other braces? +

That's what this design is for. A sleeve-style brace stays up by squeezing the thigh, and the thigh changes shape every time your dog sits. Here both wraps clip to a harness on the back and a rear strap sets the height, so the harness carries them, not the thigh. Take a minute to set that rear strap properly the first time. It makes all the difference.

Will my dog actually keep it on? +

Most do, because it's soft neoprene rather than a hard shell. Start with 15–20 minutes indoors with treats, then add a short walk, then build up. Some dogs ignore it on day one, some need a week. Go at your dog's pace.

Will a brace make the leg muscles weaker? +

The hinge bends with the knee, so the leg keeps moving and taking weight instead of being held stiff. It's meant for walks, stairs and active time, not 24/7. Take it off for long naps and overnight. If your vet has a view on wear time for your dog, follow theirs.

Can my dog pee and sleep in it? +

The belly and groin stay clear, so potty breaks are normal. Take it off for sleep. It gives the skin a rest and a chance for you to check for any rubbing.

Can I use it after TPLO or other knee surgery? +

A lot of owners use it to support the other knee while the operated leg heals. On the operated leg itself, only once your surgeon says it's OK.

When will my order arrive? +

Orders are processed in 1–2 business days and ship free with tracking. Most arrive in 7–12 business days.

What's the return policy? +

You're covered by our 90-day money-back guarantee. If it isn't right for your dog, reach us through the Contact page within 90 days of delivery and we'll refund you.

You Did Everything Right. The Knee Went Anyway.

You Did Everything Right. The Knee Went Anyway.

It usually starts small. A little skip on walks. Sitting with one back leg kicked out to the side. Then one morning they just won't put that foot down.
So you go to the vet, you hear the word “cruciate”, and then you hear the number. In the US a TPLO quote often lands somewhere around $4,000 to $6,000 for one knee, plus weeks of crate rest. And honestly, part of you is thinking about the money and part of you is thinking about putting your old friend under anesthesia.
You're not being a bad owner for looking at the other options first. Plenty of vets start with conservative care: rest, weight control, controlled walks and support. This brace is the support part.

Surgery costs are typical published US ranges and vary a lot by clinic, region and dog size.

The Knee Nobody's Watching

The Knee Nobody's Watching

Here's the part most people don't get told at the clinic. When one back knee hurts, your dog shifts the weight onto the other one. Every step, every stair, every time they push up off the floor.
So the “good” knee ends up doing double duty. In one clinical trial, 11 of the 40 dogs being treated for a cruciate injury went on to hurt the other knee too.
And the usual fix, a single sleeve brace, kind of makes it worse. It stays up by squeezing a cone-shaped thigh, so the second your dog sits down it slides toward the ankle. You end up stopping every few minutes to pull it back up, and the other knee gets nothing at all.

Trial figure as summarised in Veterinary Evidence, Vol 6 Issue 2 (knowledge summary on non-surgical CCL management).

Why It Stays Put When They Sit Down

Why It Stays Put When They Sit Down

We built it the other way round. Both knee wraps clip to a soft harness that sits on your dog's back, and a rear strap sets how high they ride. So the thigh isn't holding anything up. The harness is.
Each wrap has a thin, removable metal hinge on the outside of the knee. It bends with the leg, so your dog still walks, sits and lies down normally, just steadier on both sides. The belly and groin stay clear, so potty breaks are no problem.
Your first two weeks +
  • Days 1–3: 15–20 minutes indoors, with treats.
  • Days 4–7: add a short leash walk with it on.
  • Week 2: walks, stairs and active time.
  • Off for long naps and overnight. Check the skin every day the first week.
Who it's for +
  • A torn or partial CCL being managed with your vet
  • Protecting the other knee, before or after surgery
  • A mild slipping kneecap (grade 1–2)
  • Stiff, wobbly senior back legs
When it's not the right call +

Large, young, very active dogs with a complete rupture usually do best with surgery. Very short-legged breeds are hard to fit with standard sizes. Open wounds or infection on the leg: see your vet first. Not sure? Message us and we'll tell you straight.
